Juvenile Justice & Diversion Services

Recognizing that incarceration may not be the most useful outcome for some youthful offenders, the Office of the Essex County District Attorney provides several diversion programs for juveniles and some first-time and/or drug offenders, including restorative justice opportunities and rehabilitative programs for veterans, active service members, and those with mental health needs. We also present preventative programming that embraces the importance of engaging young people in positive community initiatives and activities.
